Hey, is it kosher?Find out here.
Scan a product and get an answer for the tradition you follow, with the ruling behind it, and see how the other four traditions read the same label.
One scan, five answers. Open a row for the ruling behind it.

The barcode is the key. A product is photographed and read once; every later scan anywhere is an instant lookup.
Scan the barcode. On a hit, the verdict is on screen in under two seconds. On a miss, three photos and a minute of your time add it for everyone.
Code decides. Normalized ingredients and the hechsher are matched against published rulings for your tradition. AI only reads messy labels; it never decides.
Every verdict names its source. “Kosher under the OU.” “Permitted per the CJLS ruling on gelatin.” Tap through to the citation, then share the page with family.
Pick your tradition. The facts stay; the lens changes.
Hey Kosher reads certifications and summarizes published rulings rather than deciding halakhah itself, so each tier names the standard it reads against.
| Tradition | Standard | Hechsher | What we check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orthodox | Recognized certifying agency | Required | Recognized hechsher; sub-options for chalav Yisrael and pas Yisrael. |
| Conservative | CJLS teshuvot (Rabbinical Assembly) | Preferred | Hechsher, plus CJLS ingredient rulings (gelatin, hard cheese, kitniyot on Passover). |
| Messianic | MJRC standards of observance | Per MJRC | Hechsher and ingredients against MJRC standards. |
| Reform | CCAR guidance (The Sacred Table) | Not required | Facts only: hechsher, ingredient flags, designation. No verdict is issued. |
| Biblically clean | Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 | Not required | Ingredients: pork derivatives, shellfish, lard, gelatin source, carmine, blood. |
